What was your original installation medium? That's where you need to point
the installation routine.
You can't download these files.

OK, But the error window keeps reappearing. Apparently the file is not
recognized, but in reference to a post by Russ Valentine on 3/14/2004 my
fxscfgwz.dll is not compressed. I do have XP sp1 and I placed my downloaded
fxscfgwz.dll in WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386. Please help! Thankyou!

Thankyou! My eMachine T1221 was preloaded with XP and I had the fax working. I was infected with a virus and and had to restore with my refresh discs. I just finished reloading and updating all my software when I had the fax problem. I couldn't find fxscfg
wz.dll in any of my Windows files so I downloaded it from a dll-file website and extracted it into WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386. It looks like an original file ( Version 5.2.1776.0 Microsoft Fax Configuration Wizard). Are you saying a downloaded file of
this type will not work in Windows even if it is an original? Is my only solution to once again run the refresh discs and reload and update all my software Again? I hope there is another answer! Thankyou!

There are fare more files than just that one that you'd need.
If your installation was performed by an OEM (original equipment
manufacturer), it will be the responsibility of the OEM to supply those
files. Unfortunately, the installation disks supplied by many OEM's do not
contain the necessary files and you will need to contact the OEM to obtain
them. The fax installation files are not available to download from
Microsoft.
