well what the crossover cable actually does is be able to
share the internet connection from one computer that's
connected to broadband and to another computer...it's
also a good way to just connect two computers without
using a router... your getting that error message because
it just means what it shows... one of the computers is
not connected... and if you turn off the main computer
that's connected to the internet, then the connection to
the other computer will shut off too... so basically the
main computer has to be on all the time in order for the
other one to stay connected...but if you wanna be able to
turn off any of the computers anytime... get a router...
