I have the above scanner by Genius and it always worked fine under WIN98.
Since XP installation I have found a new driver for it , it installed fine
and I can see no exclamation mark in Device Manger. It also shows up fine in
the bottom toolbar. It will go to the Warm-up phase fine too, but then will
not get in the scan mode. Cables are fine, power is there.
Computer if AMD 2.2 and plenty of memory.

The zipped driver file was cpv2nt_e.exe. It was made for Win2000 and NT, but
said it would work under XP too.

Well, so far all seems to work except the actual scanning.

Help is appreciated

Sounds like the scanner is bad. Some scanners require a short period to
warm up the lamp. If the lamp doesn't light up, then junk the scanner.

Where did you find this driver?

I would sugest to download the official driver from genius website,
vp2w2k.exe

The link to download is:
http://www.geniusnet.com.tw/download/queryresult.asp?plno=6

Remember to unistall any previous installed drivers before you run the .exe
file.
