both are my own comps and a retail copy of Win XP home am

No.
One license, one computer.
The way it has always been with all consumer Microsoft OSs since at
least Windows 95.
If you want Windows XP on two computers, you need to buy another
license.

It does not matter if the computers are use in the home, business,
networked or not.
