Having upgraded to XP Pro from ME, the only options now
available at shutdown are Turn off or Restart. Standby is
greyed out and not accessible. Standby used to work in ME
and BIOS supports APM. Is there a "hidden" setting
somewhere to activate the Standby option? Appreciate
advice.

Visit the support website of the manufacturer of your computer or video card.
Search for the latest Windows XP compatible video adapter drivers.
Download and install them in accordance with the installation instructions.
After installing the correct drivers, you should have the Standby button.

Thanks for this advice. The card is NVIDIA RIVA TNT2
Model 64. There is an update for NVIDIA cards on the
Windows update downloads site but when I install this and
click shut down, the screen just breaks up!! Weird.
