processor time

I have Win XP Pro There is an exe rscmpt.exe in C:\WINDOWS\system32 which
takes up most of my CPU time and CPU usage when I look up in Task Manager.
Also my processor which is P IV always runs near 100% with this exe
running, if I do end process and close this exe processor usage drops to
next to nothing. What is this exe ? What is it doing ? any ideas, is it a
virus or something from some software that I might have installed.
Any help would be welcome,

The file seems to come with certain video cards. Rename the EXE (from
the Safe Mode if not possible otherwise) and see if this causes
problems. If no, you probably do not need the file.

If you search for rscmpt, you'll find a description - this appears to be
related to NVidia drivers. NVidia has nothing on their site about it. Try
downloading the latest drivers for your video card, and if that doesn't work
try disabling this using msconfig, or else contacting NVidia support to get
some kind of resolution.
