Ext. modem vs WinXP

How can my modem be set up to recognize its connection
and be maintained? As it is now I have to go to "Control
Panel\Printers & Hardware\Phone & Modem
Options\Modem\Setup Wizard" and set up the connection
every time I turn the computer on prior to getting on the
internet.

Hey
Is the modem switched on prior to switching on the computer? If you switch
the modem on after the computer has booted, XP will not maintain the
modemsettings as the modem was not detected on bootup, and therefore you
have to reinstall it again. Therefore I always leave my modem on.
