Does your sound card show up in Device Manager? If not then it doesn't
recognize it and you'll need to load the drivers. If it does, check to see
if it reports any errors with the device.

Oddly enough (lol lol) it would seem that one of the updates has turned off the sound in service on some machines. But this is MS so go figure. go>start\control panel\administrative tools\services and scroll down until you see "windows audio" then double c
lick to open the options windows and then on the "startup type" line right click the drop down list arrow on the right and then choose automatic and then click apply down the lower right then click the start button and then close out of here. This may or m
ay not do it. I have been seeing a lot of machines with the audio turned off in services after an update and I'll be damned if I know why. If that doesn't work e:mail me and I'll give you the other 4 ways of where to check your sound setup and what is miss
ing. good luck.
