I'm an unemployed programmer who's in dire need of inspiration for a new
(Windows) application.
If you've got an idea please let me know.
Thanks,

How about an Uninstall Utility for Windows Messenger in Win
XP?
MS currently supports only disabling of Windows Messenger.
Although Windows Messenger is a fine product, users should
not be prohibited from removing it from their systems, which
seems to be Microsoft's intent.

It can easily be done pre SP1. You can edit an ini file and windows
messenger will have an entry in the add remove windows components.

I wouldnt mind a program such as tweakui or windows configurator
(downloadable by searching at http://download.cnet.com)
However i would like something that could run straight from a floppy disk,
allow me to add my own tweaks easily with little knowlege of ini file setup
and also have password protection to launch itself which the password is
stored in the registry.
I have a whole folder of tweaks, some of which are avaliable in windows
configurator but others i have to manually go and set up in the registry.
If you could create such a program, it would be useful to network
administrators who spend hours fixing what the user mucked up in the control
panel. The solution is simply to disable access to the control panel.
I think many highschools would love this program.
You would have to do a bit of research to find out what registry keys do
what and some are different in NT4 than 9x than 2000 / xp.
Also a program that simply goes through a wizard and presents me with a
fully working login script for 2k/xp clients would be awesome. I dont really
want to bother learning scripts so this would work really well. Such tasks
that this script would carry out would be mapping drives and printers, and
also to run a few batch scripts and a welcome %username% to windows. Please
dont close this window otherwise you will not be able to get to your
documents or print. lol.
I have been searching for a wizard program but with no success i am reduced
to a bat file in the hidden startup folder. It still works but gets closed
by the users.
