How can I edit the New Menu. This is the menu item that appears when you
right click on the desktop when you want to create a new folder or shortcut,
besides New Folder and New Shortcur
mine contains several other items such as Bitmap Image, Briefcase, MS Word
Document and too many more to name, I would like to be able to edit the
items that appear on this menu but can't find the proper
place / folder to make the deletions or additions. Any help would be
appreciated

Hi John,
Obtain and install the Windows XP version of TweakUI. Download it from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
Open TweakUI (it's in Start -> Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP). Goto
Templates tab in TweakUI and remove the shellnew entries there.
Manual Procedure:
Without using TweakUI, you may need to delete the registry entries manually.
HKCR\.xxx\ShellNew
(xxx is the file type)
and
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Exp lorer\Discardable\PostSetu
p\ShellNew
NOTE: Before editing the registry, always backup the appropriate registry
key.
