Repeated error with Windows Messenger

Hi, I was wondering if anybody could help me.
I have been using Windows Messenger with
Windows XP.
Recently, Windows Messenger keeps crashing,
and every time I restart Windows Messsenger up, it asks
me to add the same contacts that I have already added
over and over.
Any suggestions or fixes would be greatly
appreciated.
I have tried re-installing Windows Messenger to no avail.
