Updates slow

Why are microsoft updates so slow with XP Home or is it just me? Was never
this slow when installing on my last OS Win98se..

H i Rod,
They sent out 7 updates, via the web page,the other day, and one was 25 meg.
or so.
If you are on dial up modem (poor guy), it must have run for hours and
hours.
