Can anyone tell me what program I am lacking, frequently
when I receive email or visit web pages in a box where
there should be a graphic, there is a boxed red "X" in
the upper left corner. I was told it was Java, but I
downloaded and installed Java VirtualMachine, and still
have the same problem. Thanks to anyone who can help
me! Tracy

Most likely the author of the website simply screwed up.

What about email (from friends, so I know they got the
graphic)?

the usual solution of the "red x" is clearing up your temporary internet
folder. most of the time, this works.

In IE, go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
Click on the Advanced tab.
Scroll down to the Multimedia section and make sure the box "Show Pictures"
is ticked.

When you open a Web page, one or more pictures (graphics or images) may not
be displayed. Instead, a red X, or a placeholder, may appear in place of the
images.
