How can I show as Logged In

I have a co-worker who has Messenger and it is showing me as logged in on
his "Contacts/Buddies" or whatever Messenger is calling them these days...
The only problem is I have Messenger Unloaded at my computer at work, and
the computer at home is in Standby mode... My Password for .Net is secret
and I am pretty sure no one knows it...

Would my logging onto MSN.com using my .Net Passport cause him to see me as
logged on? I really do not have Messenger loaded on this computer, and
looking at Task Manager, under running Processes, it is not showing as
running.

How can someone be showing me as logged in when I am not online?

PS... his Messenger shows me as being "Away"
