Noise from CD-player

I am using Windows XP.
When I play an audio CD og a CD with mp3s, the player runs at full speed sll
the time.
It sound as if the whole computer takes off!
How can I set the speed of the CD-play to 2x or 4x?

You can't and the noise is normal, like a space ship taking off.
Any cd you play will only play at the correct rate, if the music sounds ok,
then it is playing or spinning at the correct rate. Your CD may be louder
that normal, but all my pc's past and present sound like your description.

I found the right program at www.download.com.
It is a program simply called CDspeed.
It works perfect!

Or just buy a slower CD Rom
