View Full Version : Explorer.exe Problem

Hi All,

I need help desperately here. My puter is running WinXP
Pro, and when it boots up (after logging on) and I lose
the Start Menu Bar. It is visible, yet doesnt work at
all?!? I can click on it to my hearts content, but it will
not respond at all. I can close explorer.exe using Task
Manager, then restart it the same way, but once the Start
menu restarts, the same thing happens.

Any Ideas??? The whole puter seems to be slowing down
dramatically too, which I'm told is usually a result of a
full HDD, which is not possible in my case, as I still
have HEAPS of free memory. RAM is also not a problem since
I have 768Mb, and also I 64Mb Vid Card too. I've tested my
Vid card, and that isn't the problem. SO what the hell is
going on?? Oh, and all virus checks have come up negative.

I'd appreciate any and all help you guys can offer, as I
really miss my computer... :o(

Cheers,

Ren

Ren.
how 'bout spamware? have you scanned with ad-aware? sounds like it could be
the problem. i have found that ad-aware is twice as important than virus
scans these days.

Thanks for replying Drew! Yes, I have scanned with Ad-
Aware too, but to no avail. I feel like I'm running out of
options here! After posting my original message, I also
tried repairing Windows using my WinXP Pro disc, but that
didn't work... I'm ready to hurl it out the window!!

Cheers,
Ren
