Cannot install DV camcorder via Firewire CODE 28

I have a Sharp Vl-NU100 MiniDV camcorder connected
through a firewire port (updated the drivers and
reinstalled the card) but when I try to recognized the
camcorder it says sharp miniDV and then when the status
bar comes up it says there is an error in loading it and
that it was not installed properly. Then I get a code 28.
How do i fix this?

Does that software support what ever OS that you are you
using find that out 1st
