My wife is has a Masters in English (soon a Masters in
History). We are old enough we had to learn how to spell
and do math in school.

But apparently not old enough to know the basic rules of
punctuation and sentence construction. It appears that
the OP may have had an excuse (English not his native
language)--what's yours?

I'm just tired and I do hurry too much.

What a helpful bunch. Why did'nt you just tell the poor guy to doublclick
the sound icon and check the mute and line-in on the sound menu that comes
up. He is getting feedback you nitwits.

I'm glad someone else shares my sentiments. Some of the garbage I read on
here is amazing. I have a major in English and it's appalling to see my
beloved mother tongue being abused in this manner. If it wasn't the OP's
first language...Hang on, Jim, I think we were a little harsh on him. I
saw -0700 and thought that was Mountain Time - he could be in South America
and his first language either Spanish or Portuguese.

I always make sure I check the time zone first - unless their name gives the
game away (someone called 'Joe Smith' has to have English as their first
language, right?)

Even in other languages, there are rules for grammar and
logic should indicate that more than a "It doesn't work,
help!" is needed to get a valid responses.

I only speak and read English, but I can often figure out
what is meant IF the question has some structure.

Note as Amethyst the grammar cop (and proper posting cop too) she plays while posting here (rarely see her offer help), she violates her own statutes of the "English" language (and also proper posting).

Examples (one of her post made just minutes before her declaration of having a *major* in English):

"What with three hours between each posting? I hardly think that's software -
or server - error!

Bwahahahaha!

Or:

"Contact your computer vendor/supplier. MS do not assist with OEM
installations except in dire circumstances. Your OEM should always be the
your first port of call."

It's really too bad she cannot be as forgiving you are, in the way you just try to understand the message, and offer the help.
