View Full Version : AGP Video Card Running in PCI mode!

I have a Leadtek AGP Winfast GeForce3 THD video card running on a Asus
A7A266 MB. I have updated MB bios, Video drivers, installed latest Nvidia
drivers. Have also went into MB bios to make sure that was set up for AGP
mode..far as I can tell it is. For some reason or another its running in PCI
compatibility mode and I need to find out how to force full AGP mode.
There is no option in the Video cards software settings that would enable me
to do this, so I am hoping perhaps there is someone who knows of a config or
ini file that might do the trick?
Thanks in advance :)

Normally I might agree with you except I did some checking on another board
forum to get a idea how many others have this issue, anyway we all ran
Spheremark and all 7 but me show that the APG is doing the rendering not the
PCI. And quite a few of them have WinXP. When I use 3Dmark or Sandra to
check a little further they both say there is no AGP memory?? Is this
normal?

So no one has any more suggestions?

Kara, I haven't seen the other suggestions, so I don't know what they were,
someone may have already said this.
Are you sure it is running in PCI mode? If you looked in Device Manager and
it says that your Display Adapter is PCI bus 1, that is normal, even when
you have a AGP card installed.

It sounds like you are trying to fix something that is working right.
The AGP bus is PCI bus 1. If that is what you are seeing, it is normal.
The AGP bus is an ancillary PCI bus.

I agree that part is normal, however running the programs I mentioned as
well as DirectX show something amiss. I show as having no AGP memory at all.
And running DirectX 9.0 I can't run the "AGP texture Acceleration" test.
Also some basic features are disabled like Side band, Fast Write and others
I can't recall at the moment.
I did find something that might help as I have this chipset. However I need
assistance as it involves changing reg setting's. If someone could take a
look at the link I will provide and perhaps help me find exactly where I am
supposed to make the changes that would be great.

I am running WinXP Pro latest build, and have tried to make the changes this
suggest. But I cannot find the exact location it refers to. Thanks in
advance :)

This is not a fix but it may give you more info. Download and run AIDA32
(Enterprise version) from www.aida32.hu. See what it tells you about your
video card.
A question - Do you have a card installed in the PCI slot next to the AGP
slot?
