Until approximately a month ago my computer was running
perfectly.
Then one day, i noticed that it was running severly slow.
This was very abnormal (i run a Dell Dimansion 2300 with
512mb ram, 74GB hard drive and 2.50ghz) because it
usually runs perfectly.
When i opened up the task manager i noticed that the PF
was up to 912mb +!
I looked on the processes and noticed that a process
called "SVCHOST.exe" was taking 400,000+ kb of memory.
From here i have two options usually. I can either let it
run or end the process. When i end the process,
everything is fine for about 30 mins
then my hard drive starts to churn and it doesnt stop
until i turn off the computer. The churning makes the
computer run even more slower than before.
I have visited many forums and read up about this
problem, but so far i cannot find a solution.
I hope that you can help me
Sam

Are you having problems connecting to web sites in IE when this happens?

If so, I have this issue as well. Try stopping the DNS Client service to
see if this helps.

Use Performance Monitor to localize what process or program is eating up the
CPU.
