When I go to windows update, I have 13 critical updates waiting. I am only
interested in downloading and installing 817287, but I don`t see the
possibility to separate it from the package of 13. The only option is
"remove".
What am i overlooking ???
OS .is windows xp sp1. Thanks Phil

Simply select "Remove" on all the ones you don't want to download and
install. That will remove them from the download/install list.

Go to the Windows Catalogue
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp?corporate=true then:
click the link to Find Windows Updates->select your OS as SP1->Select
Critical Updates & Service Packs then:
do Ctrl+F to search for 817287 (or scroll way down near the end of the list)
click the Add button and finally:
click Go to Download Basket.

no problem just install it
then activate windows
I just did a motherboard replacement using wondows pro
You will probally need to do a clean install which means back up your stuff
then format the C: drive before you do the motherboard change, its probally
time for that anyway. If you have never done this before read the bios book
that comes with the motherboard, enter bios, and set your stuff up, make
sure,it recognises your hard drives and cd roms, then when all is up and
running make sure you go to the motherboard site and check to see if yyour
bios is up to date ( be very careful ) if you update it.
make absolutely that you have the right BIOS and follow instructions while
you are there check the mother board site for any chipset drivers etc
