Yes, they are useless! I just had my second machine on campus with
the same problem. The first time around, a few months ago, I was
working with a Palm III and a phonecall to Palm got me nowhere.
This time, I had a Sony Clié, same Palm Desktop, of course. The
solution:
Install the Microsoft Client for Microsoft Networks. And presto, it
worked!
