I have a Dell desktop 4300. I have not added any new
hardware. I have not done anything new and different.
One day my speakers were working and now they are not.
The green light is on but there is no sound. I have
checked for viruses. I have checked the plug in the back
of the hard drive and into the wall outlet. I have
rebooted my computer and turned it off and on again. I
can't get sound.

Nothing to do with speakers. Suggest you download and install latest driver
for soundcard. If /that/ doesn't work, try a different set of speakers - but
people often blame the speakers when all they need to do is reinstall the
sound card driver.
