I have had the same problem since receiving a virus
via an email last Sunday. Even after cleaning the
virus from the PC (not sure which virus is was),
I can no longer log in.

Karl,
I ended up doing a repair and when I was able to login, I found that the
system was over-run with the
Bagel.n virus.

Since this was not my system, I was afraid of trying repair because I have
lost installs and data before but when I found there was nothing else to try
I successfully did one and now the system seems to be running fine now.

Hope this helps you too.

Thanks for the reply,
Charlie
