I am running windows xp, with pentium 4 and over 1gig of ddr...
basically all the bells and whistles.

I have an older HP scanner that uses usb 1.0 and works GREAT...
When I click on my computer icon, I can see the computer recognizes the
scanner and places an hardware icon in the menu...

Works great no problems.

However, I have recently purchased a new Canon 5000F model...
This scanner utilizes my USB 2.0 ports, and requires special twain drivers
download from Canon website.

This scanner works some of the time.
The OS doesn't recognize the scanner like it does the HP scanner.

There seems to be this problem with the OS recognizing the scanner, it
always tells me the cable is disconnected or twain driver is missing.

Has anyone had similar problems with this? And if so any way to resolve this
issue..

Or anyplace else to find some answers besides Canon...

Thanks

Nidaros

Go here and try these Drivers. Also if you don't have SP1 installed from
Windows Updates then do it.
