Hi all,

I have Windows XP Professional running successfully for
sometime now. Yesterday, I purchased a new bigger
harddisk (80gb) and had the old disk (40gb has XP
installed) copied over to the new one. Tried both
Maxtor's tool as well as Norton Ghost, but when I finally
replace the orignal disk with the new one and bootup, I
get the following error message:

A probem is preventing Windows from accurately checking
the license for this computer. Error code: 0x8007002.

and the system just stays blank with no keys working and
just the mouse cursor visible. I searched for any
existing issue on newsgroups, but I only found others
reporting this error for other reasons, such as while
accessing network (not during the boot). I also found the
following article

http://support.microsoft.com/search/preview.aspx?
scid=kb;en-us;Q310794

which though I am not sure if is the solution, I tried to
do it anyway, but the fact is XP doesn't even boot into
the safe mode. I get the safe mode wallpaper and nothing
else (similar to the normal boot), and in addition I get
some flashes continuously as if it is trying to show me
some message, but something is prevent it from doing it
(this can very well be the earlier mentioned error
message).

I will try again by taking a copy with the partition size
same as the original and see if that makes any
difference. I am unable to find any other information if
there are some special instructions to be followed before
upgrading the boot harddisk etc., so I would appreciate
any help on this issue.

Thank you very much,
Hari
