Hi, i recently upgraded to 6.1 b/c it told me a new version was available, since then i'm no longer able to login. When i click msn login i get the message:

Sorry, we could not sign you in b/c the sign-in name you entered does not yet exist or your password is incorrect.

If you have forgotten you password.....

0x81000303

Now i can login with my laptop and it has the same version. Yes the pw is 100% correct and the same. The same message appears when trying to login with my wifes account.

I also cannot login to hotmail site, i get page cannot be displayed. Also the site to change the msn pw is not avail either.

I've tried to reinstall with no luck. I also tried the suggestions in the other post (
error 0x81000370 msn 6.1) with no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I also noticed i can no longer view https/ssl pages..maybe this has something to do with it??

I also made sure the options to use ssl in the advanced tab of IE are checked..

Mike,

Many people are having the problem you see when upgrading to the 6.1
version.

I suggest that you uninstall the 6.1 version and reinstall the 6.0 version.
I did this and all these problems went away.

You can get the 6.0 version from www.oldversion.com.

Let us know how this works for you.

uninstalled and reinstalled ver 6 i get the same message minus the error
code.

-still cannot get to secure websites and i also noticed on windowsupdate
website i get the following time error.

In the time sync it was manually updates with the windows time server just
minutes ago. Not sure if this is all related.

Windows Update has encountered an error. This may be due to a discrepancy in
your computer's time setting.

To check your date and time setting:

1.. On the taskbar, double-click the time.
2.. Verify that the date and time is correct.

You can also get online support if you are having problems with Windows
Update.

Send error number to Microsoft (0x800C0008)

Wanted to let people know i found the solution. I recently enabled

'FIPS Compliant Cryptography' to increase the security of my file encryption not knowing it would have these effects. Once disabled and rebooted problem went away.
