I plan on adding one more computer to a home network and naturally must go
from a crossover cable to a switch or router in order to accommodate 3
computers. My question is this; I am on internet dialup and my WinXP
computer is the gateway computer, can I share the internet on the two other
computers as well?

The two others are a Win2000 Pro and the third which is the new addition, is
a Win98SE computer.

Yes. You can use the internet sharing feature.

If you are going to have to purchase at least a hub for the network
then I suggest you seriously consider spending the few extra dollars
and get a 4 port home router instead.

That way you can dispense with ICS completely and any computer on the
network can access the Internet without having to also have the ICS
server machine on as well.

In addition the NAT firewall included with the router will provide
improved security for your network and you should not require a
separate firewall program.

Good luck
