I`m a novice please bear in mind when replying!!!

Laptop running XP home, Teac DW-224E combo drive.

I had Nero the burning sotware installed, it hung half way
through a burn so i pressed Ctl Alt Del and brought up
task manager. I ended Nero and accidentally another file.
I cant quite remember what it was but along the lines of ??
ASPI??.sys. When i rebooted as the systems kept saying the
cd writing sys was being used by another application the
Teac light keeps blincking. It wont read any cds but is
recognised by windows!!!

I have tried reinstalling Nero, the CD drivers, and the
ASPI files, but still as soon as i start the machine the
Cd light keeps blincking and it can read any CDs.....
help.

Thanks

alex

Start the PC in "Safe mode".

Then, try to "uninstall" the CD burner driver, from Device Manager.

Reboot 1 -- Windows should re-detect the drive

Reboot 2 -- WIndows should now start normally

Re-install Nero 9if it is no loner installed).
