Dear Friends,

I came across the following articles on the latest Intel Chipset:
New Intel 875 chipset comes with faster 800Mhz FSB (Front Side Bus), instead of the usual 533Mhz.

May I enquire what is the major advantage of a faster FSB speed?
Please refer me to relevant PC articles in the website if possible.

Thanks alot,
Merrvyn

The fast CPUs available and coming soon have bottlenecks at
the movement of data in and out of the CPU. The older FSB
speeds of 100 and 133 were outdated years ago with 500-700
MHz CPUs. Today's 3 GHz + CPUs need the faster supporting
hardware to run efficiently. One reason that a 3.06 GHz CPU
isn't 20% faster than a 2.5 GHz CPU is that the bus can't
supply data fast enough to keep it fully working at
capacity.

It is the weakest link theory. Another poster suggest
www.tomshardware.com and it is good. I might suggest
www.intel.com
