After clean install and Update my compuet is SLOW! worse than a virus!

I have a gaetway 1.33 Ghz Athlon system with 128 mg of
RAM. I thought I had a virus, tried everything. Then I had
to reinstall windows thinking it was the olny way to fix
it. I lost all of my downloads, all of my settings and
favorites.

Then after installing XP fresh and formatting the drive.
After the updates without adding any other software. It
slows to a crawl. completely stops responding for a minute
at a time! So now I must run an unsafe version of windows
without updates just use my computer properly?

Hi Vanessa,

Many users have experienced this after installing update Q811493 - try =
uninstalling it to see if the performance improves. It is not critical =
for the average user to have this update.
