Was able to pull HD out of a system with a Biostar M7VIK mobo and jam it
into a Biostar M7VIQ system and it booted up.

And that would make some sense, the ability to boot isnt determined by the
harddrive as much as you would think. As long as the drive has a valid MBR
and boot sector, and the MFT is intact and can read the file system driver,
and the SCSI/IDE bus driver is loading the machine should boot for the most
part. Where you could run into issues is if the controller driver were
different (STOP 7B) or if you had other onboard hardware in the new mobo
that didnt detect properly (STOP 1E/A/50).
