Just built a new, faster Pc and want to move my HDD from
the old one to the new. I followed the MS knowledge Base
article #315341 and 312369, tried the repair function by
booting from the XP Home CD, but it went just so far and
came back with a message "cannot copy file ?????" . Now
when I try it, I get the blue screen in a flash and then
it reboots from the HD and won't boot from the CD. Is
there any way around this problem?

Hello

My advice take one hd drive and load your OS and then
setup the drive as a slave and just copy all your data over.

Do you mean to only copy my personal data but reload all
the apps from their original CD's? Is there a way to
avoid reloading all the apps?

You should try changingthe BIOS settings to boot from the cd.... after that
do an inplace upgrade of your W XP and that's it .... I do it all the time
and it works fine for me.
