Hi,
Don't be panic.
If you still can go on-line, go to symantec.com to have a
on-line security check and than download the virus removal
tools. Following the instructions from symantec to remove
the virus. Then clear all the restore files and disable
system restore from device manager.
If the virus has already been removed by your antivirus
software, go to device manager and disable the system
restore feature and shut down windows.
Boot from the XP CD and perform a repair install of XP.
In the worst case, copy your important files to floppy
disks than format your harddisk to perform a clean install
of XP.
NOTE: scan your floppy disks for virus to ensure they are
free from virus infected before copy them back to your
computer. You can do that after your have rebuilt your OS
and have installed the antivirus software with the latest
update virus definition.
Good luck!
Peter
