Thanks Chris. This has been most helpful. I feel more
confident now.
I am still wondering about FDIsk command. Is that
automatically in the XP set-up disks or CD?
I can not get a definite answer on the Bios. Where can I
look up the information? I went to the Phoenix Technolgy
website and they send me to Compaq. A Compaq technician
says I can't use more than the 20 GB that is in there now
and he goes as far as to say that disk management overlay
will not work either. Disk management overlay is what the
the drive Manufacturer tech from Toshiba reccommends, from
a third party in case the Bios won't work.
Now the support group at Compaq says the larger HD will
work with the Bios upgrade. They provided me with the
download link and I upgraded.
How can I find out for sure? Finding this information
should not be this much of a headach.
I do have my updates and Sp's from recently installing the
upgrade feature on the old drive.
Again, where oh where can I find some "concrete"
information on the Bios without running in circles?
Thanks again
Phil
