View Full Version : hard drive not found, STOP: 0x00000024

I cannot get Windows Xp to boot *at all* by any means. Not
even with the Start up CD. It apparently does not have the
drivers for my SCSI RAID Controller. When I try to load
the drivers at the prompt (f6 to add 3rd party SCSI drvr),
I get the Blue Screen of Death with the following message:
STOP: 0x00000024
(0x001902FA,0xF89ACB70,0xF89AC870,0xF814D830)
Anybody out there have a clue how to get around this? I
can't get into anything in the o/s at all-can't get to
System Recovery or anything..
Mucho, mucho, Gracias

STOP 0x24's are generally caused by the ntfs file system not loading
properly. Boot into recovery console and run a chkdsk /r on the machine and
see if it comes back up.

Actually, I would love to boot into recovery console-I
have tried about a dozen times already-it is in the
attempt to do this that I encounter the Blue Screen of
Death. I cannot get into any aspect of windows. I can
access my BIOS and my RAID utility and that is it.

Then you may need to do a parallel install to get fuctionality. Does the
STOP code change booting to recovery console or still STOP 0x24? Make sure
that youre specifying your RAID driver as well during the boot.

The STOP error messages do not change, and I am specifying
my RAID driver. I checked with the manufacturer for
updated drivers, and they no longer make my particular
RAID controller nor do they offer support for it..I wonder
if it could be that the driver is corrupted and Windows
can no longer recognize it. How do I attempt a parallel
install?

Well from what it sounds like you might not be able to do this, but, you
would boot the machine from CD, specify the controller, and then install
Windows into a new directory. Since you cannot get to recovery console I
dont think that you will be able to do this. If thats the case, last effort
before FFR would be to move the drive into another machine and see if a
chkdsk can fix the problem.
