Messenger Acting Strange

My Windows Messenger is doing some strange things.

Is there a way to uninstall it and then reinstall without
losing my contact list?

From the main MSN screen, click contact, save contacts

You won't lose your contact list from uninstalling or reinstalling it -- your contact list is
stored on the Messenger server.

What "strange things" are you seeing?
