dma control driver

I am having a problem with capturing video in Studio 8.
The system locks and has to be rebooted. In device
manager it shows my hard drives running in pio not dma
although dma when available is checked. the dma
controller in device manager show no driver installed. I
can't find a place to get one. Any thoughts??????
