I have a dot matrix panasonic kx-92130 printer to print our checks and I used to under windows 98 choose a user defined size (setup thru the printer setup). But windows xp isn't giving me the option to use custom or user defined forms under the printer pr
operties. I did check the driver to the panasonic site and it is the same. What else can I do?

Actually, dot matrix printers are still being made, sold, and used. They
certainly are a niche market compared to laser and inkjet printers, but
they are still viable and the best solution for many businesses. That
said, if the driver does not provide the fine-tuning you need, then
look for check printing software that will work with your printer.
Good luck,

Try
http://www.panasonic.com/business/office/support/downloads.asp
for an XP driver.
If none available, consider a new printer.

I had the same problem. XP does allow you to set custom sizing. I am new to computers so I have to go slow. (please dont be offended) Go to the start button, Settings, Printers and Faxes. Right click on your printer model. Then go to the top left corn
er "File" button. Go to Server Properties. In the middle, check Create a new form. type in what you want then "save" form. I hope this helps you. I have done this and still am trying to get it adjusted to fit my checks perfectly. I think I need to chan
ge the fonts on my panasonic kx-p2124. I am going to try that tonight. At least I have the paper size right.

I am wondering how you had made out with your check printing? I was recently attempting to print checks on a 7" form (length) which I defined in Windows XP as described above by sjdean. We installed a Generic Text Printe Driver and the printer was a Raven
. Our problem arose when when printing several cheques - the first cheque stoped one line short of 7". As a result, the second check started one line higher on the next form. We solved the problem by defining a form 7.46" in XP. The result was not perf
ect but we are able to get 15 checks printed before having to adjust the form. The check format is written in Crystal Reports. We used Generic Text printer driver because it prints characters and is so much faster than using a Windows printer driver whic
h prints images of characters.
I feel that the above solution is a work around and not the best solution possible. Does anyone have any suggestions?
