I had to re-install XP because I updated the motherboard. However, upon
restarting it found my scanner and put #2 behind it.
Where can I find the original Scanner and remove it and #2 so that when I
reboot I will only have 1 device.

Note that if you have multiple USB ports, XP will have an instance of
your scanner for each port you plug it into. This makes sense because
this is the only way XP can handle multiple identical devices.
To see nonpresent devices in Device Manager, open a command prompt:
C:\> set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1
C:\> devmgmt.msc
Then "show hidden" and your nonpresent devices will appear. You can then
delete nonpresent devices like your old scanner.
To put this environment variable into XP permanently, open System
Control Panel, Advanced tab, Environment Variables button, System
Variables:
DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1
