I am getting the blue screen treatment, usually upon
startup, and frequently the above message appears. I
also have Roxio's CD Easy Creator 5 installed, and the
system has never turned itself off after the "Start, Turn
Off Computer, Turn Off" sequence is initiated. I have to
power it off, or use the "Restart" option.
From what I have read so far the DVD system may be the
culprit causing the blue screen, or it could be memory or
bus mastering (DMA) is enabled on the IDE devices in the
system. There is a Microsoft program for NT called
DMACHECK.EXE which can disable DMA. I do not know if
this program will work using XP and frankly don't want to
use a program like that because it gets a little close to
the bone, without KNOWING it will work properly using XP.
Does anyone have any idea what steps to take next? Them
memory is two year-old DDR from Crucial, the motherboard
is an IWill KA266-R and the processor is an Athlon 1200.
