The CD RW drive in my Dell Inspiron has ceased to
function. Device Manager reports Error code 39 The driver
may be corrupted or missing.
Driver details reports five files, all of which are
present in the WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 directory, four in
the /DRIVERS directory,the other in the SYSTEM32 directory.
cdr4_2k.sys, CDRALW2K.sys,cdrom.sys,redbook.sys and
storprop.dll; the last being in the SYSTEM32 directory.
The TEAC site provides no drivers for this device.
Since the CDRW will not work, I cannot reinstall Windows
XP Professional from my original CD.
How can I get the fix the driver problem?
