Hi,
I had the same problem a long while ago.
In my opinion, the drivers made by HP don't work at all.
Their tech support team just kept saying buy the driver
on CD but there was nothing wrong with the download. I
eneded up getting a new USB scanner.
One solution was to use the drivers for a different
scanner UMAX somthing or other as this is what the
scanner showed up as in the device manager. The only draw
back was that it was very unstable (not surprising
really), but it did tide me over.
