Faxing Using Windows XP

I would like to learn how to fax using Windows XP. I don't have a fax
machine, but I do believe one can use a comp. to fax. Have tried to use it,
but I keep getting disonnected from the web when i try and also it's
difficult to log on.
Is there something that I am doing wrong?

Well, you cannot fax while you are "on line". The fax has to use your modem
to dial the fax number, connect and send info.
