I cannot access or open a CD, CDW, Floppy or Zip drive when I
insert the disk/CD in the device and I am at desktop. If I insert the media
in the devices on startup before I get to desktop I can read/use the data on
the device and use it as I need it. If I eject the media and insert another
or the same media, I get the message: "Drive:\ is not accessible. Incorrect
function." I have both a CD drive and a CDW drive in my machine. I can
write to a CDW media at any time I insert it, but I cannot read the
previously recorded data on the CD if I want to import the previous
session(s)on the CD. I can read the previous sessions if I insert the CDW
media when in the machine at startup prior to getting to desktop. If I
restart in safe mode I can read any media from any device at anytime I
insert the media. The problem appears to be software, but I have been
unable to figure it out. I have examined all the MS Knowledge base articles
on the subject, but none of them pertain to my problem. This problem has
been going on for several weeks. I have added and removed programs including
CDW Nero software in trying to fix the problem, but nothing has helped.
