Hi there,

Since you said that you think it's some kind of virus,
I'm assuming that you don't have any anti-virus
software... GET SOME!!! That would be step number one.
Symantec products sit very high on my list. If you're
willing to spend the money, get yourself a copy of Norton
Internet Security. It comes with Anti-Virus, spam-
blocker, and a firewall that is relatively easy to set up.

Step two would be to get anti adware/spyware programs
(yes programs). There are many good freeware programs out
there.

Ad-Aware
www.lavasoftusa.com

Spybot Search&Destroy
www.safer-networking.org

Those are the two that I usually use, but after you've
got those, updated them, and scanned for problems, check
these boards for a bigger list.

Hope this helps,

Nick

Norton is, in my opinion, too expensive for the performance it offers. Its
more of a nuisance (slows down the computer, you have to switch it off to
perform certain tasks, ans it's not always up-to-date).

For a lot more value (free for home users), I'd get AVG. Run a schduled scan
(it comes with the software) and it also has a plug in for OE5.

Anyway, back to the problem you have...what happens when you click on the
button in the taskbar? Does it disappear?

Do the buttons appear when you have IE open?

I also advise to run AdAware to get rid of spyware.
