View Full Version : serial ATA hard disk not recognised

i have built a computer with a gigabyte 7VAXP ultra
motherboard - it has a seagate baracuda SATA hard drive.i
installed windows ME, which works fine - tried to upgrade
to XP - it tells me there is no hard drive installed!
help......

You need to specify a "third-party driver" .. to allow XP to recognise the
SATA drive... During an upgrade installation, or a clean installation, that
requires you to press F6 when prompted, and to have on a floppy disk the
SATA driver. If you do not have the required floppy then, for an integrated
SATA controller, the manufacturer of your mainboard should have it available
for download.
