External floppy drive

I am having a problem opening or savings word and excell
documents on my exteranl floppy drive.. Problem just
started a few days ago. When I try to open or save a
file on the drive, I get a message"You do not have access
to the folder'A:\'. See your administrator for access to
this folder."

Any ideas or suggestions? Bad drive??
