I recently upgraded my machine with a new processor and
motherboard and now the following happens:
If I try and run my motherboard at 266 fsb which would
bring my processor to its intended 1.9 Ghz, I receive an
error on boot that c:\winxp\system\config is corrupt.
If select 133mhz fsb on my motherboard all is well but I
then will only be able to run my processor at 1.5 ghz.

The processor is the AMD Athlon 2500 and the motherboard
is an ecs L7VTA. After installing the hardware I re-
installed XP on the 100 mhz fsb setting and was able to
move it to 133mhz fsb.

Any ideas out there?

Greetings --

Normally, unless the new motherboard is virtually identical to the
old one (same chipset, IDE controllers, etc), you'll need to perform a
repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, at the very least:

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade of Windows XP

This may also require re-activation. If it's been more than 120
days since you last activated that specific Product Key, you'll most
likely be able to activate via the Internet without problem. If it's
been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
