Attaching Documents to Fax

I've set-up and been using the fax software which comes
with Microsoft Windows XP. I have been receiving faxes
just fine. I want to attach a WOrd document to my
outgoing faxes but I can't see an option to attach other
documents anywhere. Is this facility not available or am
I being stupid and missing something?

Open the word doc you want to fax and select file then print, then choose
fax instead of printer in the printer window. This will fax the document.
